Continua Energías Positivas is positioned as the most important solar project developer in Colombia with Trina Solar as a Sponsor after the second auction of long-term energy contracts, organized by the Colombian government through the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Twenty-seven generators with 53 projects were pre-qualified for a total of 4,772MW, of which 2,975MW participated in the auction. Seven generators (2 incoming and 2 incumbents), with 8 projects for 1,290MW were awarded, assuming obligations to supply 10,186 MWh-day at an average price of 28 USD/MWh.
Of the 7 projects awarded, 4 are with wind technology and 3 with solar technology, positioning Continua Energías Positivas as the largest developer of solar projects in the auction, both in terms of installed power and energy obligations, with 2 of the 3 solar projects under development, with a 65% share of the power awarded in this technology.
Trina Solar, together with Continua, has become a leader in the sector in this technology, having 100% of the awarded solar projects under its control.
